"GRAB YOUR DEVICE" with EVA BRADLEY
SATURDAY 14th SEPTEMBER , 1pm-2:30pm

For ages : 10-14 years
As a parent of two young boys obsessed with Minecraft, Hawke's Bay photographer Eva Bradley spends a fair bit of time wondering how to get her kids OFF their devices.
But what if you worked with the tech instead of against it, and turned a kid's love affair for their device into a natural portal for creativity?

In this workshop, Eva takes kids back to the basics of how to take a good photo on any camera, but specifically the one they always have with them on their device. There's no filters, no aps, no stickers and no selfies. Just good, old-fashioned principles of photography - tools to create a good photo that will stay with them for life.

1 hour session, limited to a group of 10. Must bring a smart phone, digital camera or tablet capable of taking photos.
Where : Hastings City Library
Cost $25.
Please make payment direct to FOTO IWI CHARITABLE TRUST

Unique opportunity to tour the FotoFest SWPA exhibition with Tom Ang

Wed 18 Sep 2024, 6:00PM - 7:00PM
HASTINGS MUNICIPAL BUILDING
Tama Turanga Huata Room
325 Heretaunga Street East
Hastings

About the event
Join Tom Ang on a tour of the 2024 Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at FotoFest in Hastings.

This a unique opportunity to share an insider's view into the world of major photography competitions.

Tom was one of the earliest consultants when the Awards were formed and led the creation of the SWPA Student Competition. He was a judge for the first two years and has also judged on major awards such as Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and the Hamdan International Photography Award.

After an introduction, Tom will lead participants on a tour of the exhibition. This is your chance to ask about the process of judging major competitions, curating shows, and presenting a major touring exhibition of photography.

The event will be open and free flowing, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Whatever happens you can be sure of industry-level insights!
